LIGHT CONVERSATION is a curated pop-up projection and community event series created by Small Talk in 2019. Annually, we open a call for submissions and host a subsequent slideshow event at different locations throughout the city of Portland featuring talented local, national, and international artists.

Join us for Small Talk's 4th annual Light Conversation projection series - held inside the main gallery at Oregon Contemporary.

Friday, April 14th from 7-10pm
The formal viewing will begin at 8 pm and will loop until the end of the event. Strange Paradise Gallery will also be open with our current exhibition, Afterword, which showcases work from Light Conversation: Vol. 3!
This is a one-night-only event with a bar, DJ, and photobooth so bring your friends and family. Get here early, purchase a beverage (beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options) and a snack from the Oregon Contemporary Café. Party Cat will have a free photobooth set up, so snap some pictures with your friends and tag us on Instagram!

LIGHT CONVERSATION: Vol 3 was held at Oregon Center for Contemporary Art on August 25th, 2022. Thank you to everyone who submitted and attended our one-night projection exhibition!

This event also marks the opening night of our exhibition COLLECTIVE RAGE, a show about reproductive + bodily autonomy rights with all print sale proceeds being donated to the National Network of Abortion Funds. Thank you for helping us make some noise about this attack on human rights!

LIGHT CONVERSATION: Vol 2. was held in the Oregon Contemporary courtyard on Friday, October 1st from 7-10 pm.
Inside the building, exhibitions by Oregon Contemporary were on view and Strange Paradise Gallery hosted in-progress work from Small Talk members.
We had a wonderful turnout for our first event post-lockdown and were just so ecstatic to spend time with our photo community once again for this fun event. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the exhibited artists, who are listed below!
